Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment uses multiple wavelengths of pulsed light in combination with laser technology to gently and effectively penetrate the skin's deeper layers. As a result the skin appear clearer, brighter, and more evenly toned.

IPL is performed using a device that emits high intensity pulses of broadband light which target and destroy problematic skin cells. The surrounding healthy skin cells are left undamaged and little discomfort is experienced during the procedure.

IPL is often suitable for many areas of the body, including the face, hands, neck and chest. It is best used for:

  • Minor sun-damage
  • Age spots
  • Large pores
  • Irregular pigmentation
  • Varicose veins
  • Unwanted hair
  • Wrinkles
  • And more...

One session takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

Side effects

Some individuals may experience minor skin irritations such as redness, blotchiness, or itchiness; however, these symptoms are temporary and normally subside within a few hours. Additionally your physician may suggest that you apply a broad spectrum sunscreen daily to protect against any heightened sensitivity to UV rays.

Microdermabrasion treatments make use of a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand the skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.

Although other parts of the body such as the neck, chest, hands and legs can be treated with microdermabrasion, the face is the most common area to be so treated Microdermabrasion can be helpful in the treatment of common skin problems ranging from acne scars to sun damage.

Microdermabrasion works on all skin types and colors. It makes subtle changes, causing no skin color change or scarring. It is not effective for deeper problems. It is best used for:

  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Wrinkles
  • Deep acne
  • Dull skin
  • Brown spots
  • Age spots

Microdermabrasion is a simple and non-invasive cosmetic treatment which usually takes up to 60 minutes to perform. With microdermabrasion, there is less down time than with dermabrasion. Skin is temporarily pink but fully recovers within 24 hours. There is no need for surgery or anesthetics.

Side effects

The side effects of microdermabrasion are generally mild. Negative effects have been reduced to the barest minimum. After the process of exfoliating the skin, photosensitivity may occur.
